Getting Out of Your Comfort Zone
I’m a creature of habit. When I started kickboxing, I found a bag that I liked and stuck with it every session. I’d arrive early just to make sure I could claim it. It helped that it was a bag that most people avoided anyway and I think that made me like it even more.
One fateful day, I got to class at my usual time and saw that my bag was already claimed. I already didn’t feel like working out so I took it as a sign and left.
My next class back I arrived as another class was ending and noticed that the same girl that had stolen my bag the day before was waiting on the sidelines to get on the floor. We practically raced each other to get to the bag first (I won). It was intense.
We did this for the next few classes. I seriously contemplated asking her for her phone number so that we could coordinate our schedules and avoid the same classes.
Finally, I decided to stop being ridiculous and try another bag. Turns out that I found one that I liked even more.
