Cheer on Netflix
I hit play on Netflix’s new docuseries Cheer, I asked myself, “Why are you doing this?”
Next thought: “A show following a cheerleading team as they prepare for a competition in Daytona? This is the lamest thing that Netflix has come out with since that show on glassblowing (I also watched this and somehow got sucked into two episodes until I decided that it was just absurd to be watching a show on competitive glassblowing.) “
After two episodes: “If Jerry was my friend and mat talked me all day, there isn’t anything I couldn’t do. (This is after having no idea what in the hell mat talk was until the day before?”
After three episodes: “ Yooo…if Jerry doesn’t make mat!
After five episodes: “They better nail this full out!” (After having no idea what in the hell full out was the day prior.)
I can’t believe it, but this show was amazing. I was so invested in these kids achieving their dreams. Monica Aldama, the coach, is a G. And the world is a better place because of Cheer.
