Food Memories: Peppermint Tea with Milk
This weekend, comfort came in the form of peppermint tea with a dollop of condensed milk. I took one sip and it immediately conjured up a feeling of me at five years old with my grandmother. The images weren’t completely clear, but I knew it was a happy time and that alone was enough to make me smile. With each bite of ciabatta dipped into the tea, I saw and felt my grandmother with me.
I can’t pinpoint why I decided to do this. Somewhere buried in the deep recesses of my mind, I knew that this combination was a good idea. When I mentioned it to a friend, he said it sounded like I ruined two great things. He was wrong. The aromatics of the mint combined with the creaminess and sweetness of the condensed milk make for a very pleasant experience.
