Garraf, Spain - Sangria Days, Sherry Nights

Where did the time go? I can’t believe it’s almost a year since I went to Spain. Since I’m not sure when I'll see a beach again, I’ve been reminiscing about long lost moments in the sand.

While Barcelona wasn’t my favorite city, the sleepy beach town of Garraf was more than worth the trip. Most people that venture down the coastline from Barcelona stop at Castelldefells or continue further south to Stiges. Between the two popular locations is Garraf. It’s a beautiful spot of beach and I spent more days than I planned frolicking in the ocean and lounging at the Soho Beach House.

The days were filled with the tourist rite of passage - drinking Sangria (it was exceptional though). On one of the nights that I was there, I took a class on sherry. While it was completely in Spanish, it more than sparked my interest in this fortified wine (and I’m amazed at how much Spanish I can comprehend). These moments in Garraf were the highlight of my trip. Whenever I see sherry on a menu, I’m instantly transported to this time and I always greet it with a smile.

From Barcelona, Garraf is a 30-minute train ride. (It was incredibly easy to navigate this on my own.) While I can’t promise you that you’ll stumble into a sherry tasting (visit Jerez, Spain for that), I can assure you that there are good beach days ahead.
