Who Needs Milk When You Have Wine?

One of the things in my precautionary coronavirus quarantine kit is Tate’s chocolate chip cookies. This choice is clearly not practical in any real way except for simple joy.

While we’re not at quarantine yet, I couldn’t help but dip in the Tate’s bag because…again joy. At the same time, I opened a bottle of Moscato d’Asti (great with the cookies). The scene reminded me of when I went to Rome in November. (Ironically I was weighing the options of extending my trip in Rome or returning back in April 2020 and I’m so glad that I just stayed.)

While in Rome, I took a day trip to visit a DOCG winery in Frascati. Before heading to the winery, we toured the quaint town and sampled some local goods from a few different shop owners. On the second stop, we were introduced to a piece of Frascati culture…dipping traditional cookies into wine. At first taste it was weird. At second taste it was weird. However, after about four tries, I found this combination slightly addictive.

As I dipped my chocolate chip cookie in my wine today, it brought me back to Italy and to simpler times.
