My Daniel Fast Shopping List

I have exactly one week left of this fast. I’ve eaten so many great foods that it feels like I’m cheating. Even though I’ve done the fast before, I’m grateful that I allowed myself to explore things that I haven’t in previous years. I’ve been pleasantly surprised and it makes me want to eat this way forever (or until next Tuesday when I have Chef Scotley’s oxtail ramen). But really, I don’t feel like I’m missing out on anything.

Below is my full shopping list. I think this is helpful because there are so many great options that I don’t normally see on other lists, including some clean packaged items. I thought about including recipes, but that’s just not the way that I cook. I like to play, guess and create in the moment. It’s one of the few times that my brain isn’t second-guessing things. Instead of writing recipes, I’ve included my core meals to show how I utilized items on the shopping list. Tomorrow I might photograph some handwritten notes for more guidance. If I do, I’ll post them.

- Sweet potato bowl (Roasted sweet potatoes, pico de gallo, black beans, avocado)
- Taquitos (refried beans [pinto beans, cilantro, onion, cumin, salt, pepper], tortillas, pico de gallo)
- Salad (butter lettuce, pico, guacamole, black beans)
- Butternut squash and spinach (sauteed with onion, cayenne pepper, salt, pepper, cinnamon)
