A few of my friend’s and I have been trying to plan a girl’s trip since we took our last one about a year and a half ago. (Time is seriously flying. Do you realize it’s July?!?!?) The four of us grouped together over a gchat conversation and started throwing out the most random places. Needless to say 4 people, 4 drastically different personalities, 4 really long list of places…with not one matching. This all equaled one giant problem. (I quickly remembered that this is probably why we’ve just been talking about this trip for the past year and a half.)
One of my friends came up with the bright idea of getting a map and just throwing a dart. Wherever it lands, that’s where we’ll go. Then we said to ourselves, someone should really make an app for that. Now, since none of us have iPhones, we don’t know for sure if there is an app or not. However, thanks to our trusty friend Google and some uber smart coder, it turns out that there is an app (kinda) for this kinda thing.
My friends, allow me to introduce you to DartOnAMap.net. Ingenious! It has it’s flaws, but for a cool way to pick your next trip, it works well. It’s just a world map powered by Google (evil geniuses) that allows you to click on a button to throw a dart. Flaw: it lands in the random parts of the ocean a lot. It is also quite keen on Antartica.
So, after our final throws, we ended up with Saudi Arabia; some random gun/drug city in Mexico; Jalisco, Mexico; and the Pacific Ocean. So it seems we’ll be going to Mexico! Specifically, Guadalajara.
Random thoughts while writing this post:
- Amy Winehouse albums win, all the time.
- Go Brazil!!!!
- It took me about 3 tries to spell genius correctly. I’m not a genius?
- I’d really be down to go to Saudi Arabia.
- Flickr’s search lies. I searched for travel, dart, map signs, cars, train…and it told me it had nothing. Liar.
