Yesterday, I received a forwarded email from one of my friends. I’m sure you’ve seen something like it: “Send this email to 8 of your friends and receive a free laptop. This is not a hoax.”
Pah! Yeah, not a hoax my ass. Me, being the nifty researcher that I am, immediately googled it. No surprise that I found more than a dozen sites saying that this outrageous proposal was a hoax.
See, I’m big on checking the facts. It’s possible that it’s because I was a journalism major and learned to double check everything…even if it came from a sweet old lady that looked like my grandma. It might also be that I went to Howard University where long lines and people telling you “no” were a constant reality. (It was there that I learned that there was usually a person that could give you the answer that you needed, you just had to move by the lowly dream killer.)
I now use this researching philosophy to accomplish my goals which include traveling and running a successful company. I don’t listen to people that tell me something can’t be done without any proof. Sorry, I don’t believe you, I need more people.
I do my own research and make my own path. That’s how I decide what is possible. And I do this because…
Most People Know Abso Nothing
In my recent trip to New York, I was talking to a small business owner about how she set up a bar in New York. She said that she heard from many people that it was impossible to get a liquor license in New York. However, she did her own research, went to the proper location and paid the money for the license. It was that simple.
Most people really don’t know much. They overhear things in conversations or subscribe to a trusted confidant’s opinion. Don’t be fooled by those people, especially when it comes to your dreams and goals. It’s not that these are bad people. However, make it a point not to follow what “they say.” Do your own research and take your own risks. That’s the only way you’ll know what is possible.

I agree. I believe most people are negative and spew it so much from their mouths that they no longer notice. I think more people should have the courage to say…why something could very well happen instead of why can’t something happen.
At least let the person try (if it’s not harming them or anyone else), what’s the harm in that?

I think sometimes people aren’t even aware that they are doing it. They just say something so they can say they’ve said something without realizing how it will affect someone’s dream.

Most people say something negative just because of jelousy! “Don’t go to Brazil, it’s sooo dangerous” Well i’m sure it is, if you don’t mind your steps and walk around with a big sign saying “Rob me pls”
it’s just easier for a person to say something negative as it’s a way of taking away the responsibility of your own feelings and a way to distance yourself from the person who is actually doing something you’d like to do. I’m sorry but I’ve started thinking that everybody else is wrong and I’m right, and I can tell you i feel much happier! =)

LOL. I love that thinking Caldeia. “Everyone else is wrong and I’m right.” I’m using it!
